Have you seen this?

Editor's note: I should clarify: This is NOT my content.  This is an excerpt from a tumblr started by someone else.  My sense is that the "f---" is an insult in some cases, and sort of a jealous comment in others, and in both cases is the personal opinion of the person behind the site.  While I can see it being problematic to use actual people's photos (just not nice), at the same time it seems like a tongue in cheek way to express a feeling towards trends.  But I'm curious what you all think!

Have you seen this tumblr?

An example:

Fuck your thing that says EAT in your kitchen.
Fuck your thing that says EAT in your kitchen

Fuck your ornamental vintage typewriter.
Fuck your ornamental vintage typewriter

As readers (and writers) or design blogs, I ask you: offended?  Or amused?

I'm amused.  Here, I'll add on of my own.

Fuck your bunting.

There. that kind of felt good.

There are definitely trends I don't get out there, and I don't always feel at ease mentioning them.  This tumblr--so simple--is a brilliant way to take them on.

Is there a big trend out there that makes your eyes roll?

Do tell.

  1. It's amusing, except I could never uses someone's photo to do it - it's like singling out one person from the crowd and telling them how awful their outfit is. Some things are truly overdone, but in that case I skip them and move on to promoting the more original bits.

  2. I'm afraid the "Put a Bird on It" movement has ruined birds for me forever. I'll find a cool fabric that I love, realize it has a bird on it, and just like that I'm out of love.

  3. "Fuck" an Eames chair - I mean come on! I wish I had enough money and taste that I could scoff an Eames anything!! I will say I don't like words bossing me around in my house and I am a little tired of the alphabet especially in rooms for people who already know it but who doesn't like to play god with a terrarium and that butterfly stool is elegant and Heather, bunting is so cheerful for celebrations.
Not everyone can keep their house 10 seconds ahead of the trends. I feel like I am living in the Ikea catalog page 9 and that is on a good day when I am not feeling like a Hoarders episode. I'm definitely fucked :)

  5. So, I'm new here. is the FU a good thing or a bad thing? Does that mean you want it? I am not offended because those are not my pictures.

  6. And now for a relevant comment...
I hate, I mean really hate, crap with words on it. Signs that say anything in French or just "Paris" hung in someone's house are ridiculous.

  7. Omg, I am dying laughing right now. I have no idea whether that is supposed to be a comment or a real FU. I haven't seen this until now.
