Visual Comfort Lighting at Home Goods

Friends.

If you are in need of lamps, get yourself to Home Goods!

Visual Comfort, probably my favorite lighting line, featuring designs from the likes of Thomas O'Brien and Alexa Hampton, suddenly has product popping up in local Home Goods stores.  At around $100 a piece, these are all at the top of the Home Goods price scale, but that's still around the wholesale price--or less.  While it's possible that these guys wound up in a discount center because of a quality issue, it is certainly not apparent.  My favorite thing might be the tapered shades--you can't pick those up at Target, and buying them at a proper lighting store will set you back nearly the cost of one of these entire lamps.

(I want the white ones, above, for myself.)

GORGEOUS royal blue

These remind be of gilded balls of yarn or tumbleweeds.  In gold or silver, there were pairs of each.

Very simple, with beautiful marbles bases--again, a pair.

And two floor lamps.

Locals, these are mostly at the Eden Prairie location, though a few are in St Louis Park.

Go forth and shop!

Cafe chairs

I am a big fan of what I think of as the "frenchy cafe chair."

I recently used Serena and Lily's riviera chair in this client's kitchen.

(There will eventually be a blue, skirted, backless bench on the window side of the table.)

I just noticed these new cafe chairs from a very affordable source.

It's the "Almsta" chair from Ikea!  $99.  I would love to see a bunch of these at a table paired with a built in banquette, kind of like this.

Someone go ahead and snap these up!

Put a bird on Muriel Brandolini

I should probably stop posting anything to do with birds.  The terrible title of this post is evidence that it comes up a lot.  But here's the thing:  birds are one of those things that are classic in design and just happen to be super trendy and possibly overdone these past two years or so.

The nice part of this is the trickle down effect.

I blogged about this room from Muriel Brandolini when I was planning a project to display kid art.  Here.

And guess what?

Bam, a knock off.

While I am officially too old to shop clothes at Urban Outfitters, I love the way they keep fresh trends cheap.  I would consider that decal for my powder room, come to think of it...

Like Madeline Weinrib on a budget

Sourcing rugs for a little girls' room, I came across this new one from PBTeen, and I want it for myself.

Leaf Medallion Lurex Rug - Bring Pink/Coral

Reminds me most of a rug that Madeline Weinrib no longer seems to make, but it kind of has the vibe of this one

With the color palette of this one

At about half the price.

Anthropologie rug: the look for less

I have always loved the Anthro "festival" rug.

But I don't love the price tag. At $998 for an 8x10, it certainly isn't crazy, but when you are doing a whole house (or even a whole room), the price tags add up.

Check out a similar rug from NuLoom.

You can find it right now at rugstudiousa where a 7'6" x 9'6" is only $425.60 (sale price).

Noe, I do believe that you get what you pay for, and the big difference here (besides the slightly murkier color palette from nuloom) is the way the rug is made.  The anthro rug is a quite detailed crewelwork construction, while the nuLoom appears to be machine tufted.

Either way, though, you get that bohemian look at a good price.

Remember this headboard?

Well, I found a knock off.  And I saved it for the awesome blog Copy Cat Chic.

Do you follow Reichel's blog? Every day, she share some fabulous piece and its less-expensive twin, and today she's got these headboards.  (She also has an adorable new munchkin named Arden, and just started sharing weekly photos of her.  Bonus!)

Thanks, Reichel for sharing my find!
